Boosted Uganda Travel as National Carrier opens up Lagos and Mumbai routes

Uganda Airlines launched routes to Lagos, Nigeria, and Mumbai, India, as promised by the Explore Uganda campaign, last month.

The launch of the Lagos Nigeria route happened at the Sheraton Kampala Rwenzori Ballroom in July 2023, with the inaugural flight booked for October 19th, 2023, at 4:00 pm. The airlines will be making three trips a week to the West African City on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Uganda Travel just got easier with new airline routes that will bring West African Safaris too.

The launch of this route stands to shorten travel time between the two cities by 5 hours. This will increase the number of West African tourists interested in Uganda safaris.

Ms. Jennifer Bamuturaki, the CEO of Uganda Airlines, says the four-hour flight is meant to boost efficiency and expedite the mobility of both commodities and individuals between Uganda and Nigeria.

Previously, Uganda Airlines began flights to Mumbai, India, for the first time in 40 years. The historical event was attended by the High Commissioner of India, Upender Singh Rawat, and other members of the Indian community in Uganda. This will be Uganda’s second intercontinental route, following Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with its inaugural flight on October 7th, 2023.

“This is a significant step forward for our country,” said Bamuturaki, adding, “We share a strong bond as brothers and sisters, and we are delighted to open (the route to) Mumbai.” “We can not wait for dinner in Entebbe and breakfast in Mumbai,” she said, noting that the previously twelve-hour flight had been reduced to six hours.
